Dr Yosr Haffani is an Assistant Professor and a team leader of the research group Human Microbiome & Cancer.at the Higher Institute of Biotechnology Sidi Thabet (ISBST), University of Manouba UMA in Tunisia. She is an expert and a National Contact Point for the European Union R&I programme Horizon 2020 for Health, Demographic Change & Well-Being. She has 18 years of academic and research experiences in Canada. She received a PhD in Biology from University LAVAL, Canada and conducted postdoctoral positions at University of Toronto and TOP10 Lunenfeld Taunenbaum Research Institute in Toronto.
Dr Haffani is involved in numerous international projects the Canadian Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council NSERC, National Institute of Health NIH, and the European Commission R&I Framework Programme FP7, Horizon 2020 and PRIMA projects. She is a coordinator of the bilateral project Tunisia & South Africa MESRS-NRF 2019-2022 for the Molecular profiling of breast cancer for markers of genetic susceptibility and treatment response in Tunisian and South African populations. She is recipient of the German Academic Exchange Universities, DAAD Grant and she is currently international expert with the DAAD. She is a co-founder of the Junior BioContact Quebec and played a key role in setting-up junior research group network involved in Biotechnology, Leadership and Entrepreuneurship-enhanced learning at University LAVAL. Founding member of the NGO African Pharmacogenomics Consortium in 2018. She was nominated and selected as expert in the field of cancer research by the national and international organisations, the CREDIF/KINFO as a Tunisian Female Competence Who Is She In Tunisia (2015), Tunisian female expert (2017), MHESR-Tunisian Competence Abroad (2010) & with NEPAD Africa Biosciences Initiative database (2015).
She is recipient of prestigious prizes and awards McMurrich prizes, Aventis Biotech Challenge, etc in Canada and USA. Dr Haffani is a member of international associations, American Association of Cancer Research AACR, Canadian International Development Agency CIDA and others. She is a regular reviewer of scientific journals and grant applications for the Tunisian Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German University Academic Exchange (DAAD).
